Visitors come to the museum to admire the work of the painter called the “King of the skies” by Corot.
Born in the town in 1824, Eugène Boudin pastels and paintings fill the walls of this former monastry with its rare neo classical dome that protects the gallery. The museum also celebrates other painters of the post Impressionist movement, but Boudin was the first to capture the changing light of this stretch of French coast. Get up close and personal with the work of this painting genius friend of Charles Baudelaire, the first critic to draw Boudin’s talents to public attention.

Located in a 16th century house part of Honfleur’s old prison. You will visit various rooms that have Norman furniture, clothing etc that give an atmospheric insight into what life was like in old Honfleur/Normandy during the 18th and 19th centuries. Rooms include the weaver’s room, the girl’s room, the printer’s room and the sailor’s room. You can visit this museum and the MusĂ©e de la Marine adjacent for a reduced price. Inexpensive, it’s worth a visit if you like get the feel for the cultures and lives of people.

Located in Saint-Étienne church, the oldest church of Honfleur facing the Vieux Bassin. The Honfleur Marine museum (Musée de la marine de Honfleur) holds an important collection of models, engravings, and objects of all kinds. You will learn more about Honfleur’s sailors and fishermen life, as well as about the typical activities of the time: fishing, maritime trade, shipbuilding, etc.
